Yogic breathing exercises are called “pranayama”. The literal translation of this Sanskrit word is “control of the prana”. Prana is the vital energy, or life force. With regular practice, pranayama enables you to more consciously control the non-physical subtle energy within your own being. The word sheetali means cooling in Sanskrit, it is taken from the original word Sheetal. The practice of sheetali breathing calms the mind, reduces the stress. The blood pressure is also lowered.The purpose of the Sheetali breathing is to reduce the body temperature, This pranayama gives control over hunger and thirst. It has a calming effect on entire nervous system.
